About us
Heritage Futures International (HFI)
The formation of Heritage Futures International ( NZ ) Ltd in 2005 is the culmination of over twenty years of dedication to working alongside communities and volunteer organizations preserving and promoting heritage for social, environmental and economic benefit.
We have a strong history in heritage development with staff and associates being involved in numerous, innovative heritage and community economic development initiatives.

HFI specializes in bringing local people together and developing the heritage resources in a particular place to meet the needs of that place. The focus is on working with 'bottom-up' development rather than 'top-down', with the goal being improved incomes and services, an increase in the number and quality of jobs and an enhanced quality of life.

Cultivating fresh purpose, daring, passion & conviction
Our perception began in 1985 working in New Zealand with the Oamaru Historic Precinct project ( preserving & developing the towns unique collection of 19th century buildings into a living 'Victorian Town at Work' ) – a project we continue to work with to this present day, and has evolved to participation in a broad range of local, regional, and national initiatives around NZ, Australia and South Africa. HFI maintains close associations with a number of talented, experienced and specialist social entrepreneurs, heritage tourism, planning & economic development consultants throughout NZ, Australia and overseas in order to pull together the best teams to work on specific projects.
